Converting Plugins, Extensions, etc. in Joomla

I’m mainly working on Joomla 1.5 at the moment and there are very, VERY, little extensions and plugins for it. So I’m learning how to create them, but the best way so far is trying to convert already created 1.0 versions to 1.5.
