Work Thoughts

Inventory System
- Moved plugins to new listing format.
- Need to determine how a query that only needs to pull up 1 value is handled. Leaning towards handling the foreach inside the processing file and not the include file. Problem with this is we lose consistency. Maybe handling the foreach in the template would be best
- Options
- Foreach in the include
- Foreach in the processing file
- Foreach in the template
- Create a new function to handle single returns.
- Need to finish Remove plugin function. It needs to be determined if this will remove the files also.
- Add plugin function needs to be implemented.
- Products functions need to be determined how they are handled.
- Products needs to be checked to see if everything is working.
- Then move onto manufacturers.
Been scheduled for a meeting to look at a piece of software that may replace all of this. Oh well good learning experience.

Good shop for Joomla
VirtueMart

I am trying virtuemart out as a replacement for an ordering system. It seems to be able to do the things that I want it to for the most part. Working on trying to get joomla 1.5 svn to work with virtuemart 1.1 svn. Currently I have an issue with it not installing the component. It says something like could not find a valid installation file. I’m going to try to manually install the component. Let’s see how it goes.
Problems with Firefox
Posted July 31, 2007 by Adam MooreCategories: Firefox, Opera
Lately I’m becoming increasingly frustrated with Firefox. The High CPU usage and memory consumption slows down my computer an amazing amount. Firefox also has been crashing from time to time. I have been using Opera lately and I like that it seems to work great. I just miss tons of my addons that I use in firefox.
We’ll see what happens in the long term.
Learning Joomla! 1.5 Extension Development
Posted July 31, 2007 by Adam MooreCategories: Components, Joomla, Modules, Plugins
I got my book yesterday to help me develop extensions. This book looks like it’s going to be very helpful. At about 150 useful pages it’s fairly small, but I don’t think extensions are that complicated. Mainly I needed it because there was very little documentation on how to create these using Joomla 1.5. So this will help me with the table creations and the packaging niceties. Also it will be nice to have something to always be able to go to. See the link below for the book.
